Right now, Guerrilla Games are hard at work polishing up the final touches to their anticipated new IP, Horizon: Zero Dawn, which releases on the PlayStation 4 early next year.
That doesn’t mean, however, that the studio are done with the Killzone franchise, the first-person shooter series that the team are famous for.
In an interview in this month’s edition of Game Informer, which is out as of today, Hermen Hurst, the studio’s managing director, emphasised that “Killzone is very key and very core to Guerrilla.”
“We have a lot of love for the franchise.” he explains, “In a way it’s conclusive, but at the same time we’ll leave everything open for the future. Who am I to say we’ll never do anything? There’s too much in it to ever make any kind of definite statements.”
The last Killzone game by Guerilla was Killzone: Shadow Fall, which released as a launch game alongside the PlayStation 4 in 2013.
In our review, we called Shadow Fall a “fun experience” that was unfortunately “held back by a lackluster story and certain missing features.”
Horizon: Zero Dawn releases on February 28th, 2017.
