Warcraft didn’t exactly turn out to be the huge box office success Blizzard and Legendary Pictures were hoping for, but it wasn’t a complete failure either. In fact, many gamers really enjoyed the movie and have expressed their interest in a potential sequel at some point further down the line. While it may take a few more years before Blizzard decides to announce another movie, the company did recently reveal a new graphic novel that serves as a prequel to the story of Warcraft: The Beginning.
The graphic novel entitled Warcraft: Bonds of Brotherhood revolves around the adventures of King Llane, Anduin Lothar, and Medivh. These adventures are quite different compared to what we’ve seen in the movie, however, as this story takes place decades before Warcraft in a time before the Orc invasion of Azeroth when The Guardian was still unaware of his demonic corruption.
According to a new post on the official World of Warcraft website, “In a fantasy-action epic set decades before the film, the young and headstrong Llane, Lothar, and Medivh embark on a mission of vengeance that will forge them into heroes . . . the kind of heroes Azeroth will need in its darkest hour.”
The folks over at Blizzard haven’t revealed any additional details regarding the graphic novel but we expect good things given that it features art by Mat Broome and was written by Doctor Who’s Paul Cornell and master storyteller Chris Metzen, who unfortunately left Blizzard earlier this week and retired from the industry.
Warcraft: Bonds of Brotherhood is now available on Amazon for $15 or $17 for the Kindle version.
