Autosaving – No Man’s Sky
No Man’s Sky provides players with a huge universe to head out into and explore. On your adventure, you’ll seek out upgrades, purchase new ships, find minerals and plants, and talk to the local aliens, too. With that in mind, it’s important to know whether or not the game autosaves, or if you’ll have to manually save each time you’re done playing the game.
The good news is that yes, No Man’s Sky does have an autosaving feature. During our time with the game so far, however, we’ve noticed that it looks like it creates a new save whenever you get into or out of your ship, and whenever you discover a new building or structure. Therefore, you can rest assured that whenever you’ve made some significant progress, the game will ensure you aren’t going to lose out if that power plug comes out the back of your system.
In terms of being notified when the game has successfully autosaved your progress, a little message will appear stating “Restore Point Saved.” Unfortunately, the same message doesn’t show when discovering a new building or structure, but from our own experience, the game does still autosave at this point.
If you don’t trust the game to save your progress, you can always manually save at bases that you come across on your galactic adventure, though, these aren’t always nearby. Check out our in-depth guide on how to save over here, and if you need any more No Man’s Sky help, check out our wiki!
