After recent reports surfaced from people claiming that they have captured the legendary Pokemon Articuno in Pokemon GO, Niantic has come out to say that they had nothing to do with this.
Niantic’s comment comes after Geek.com reached out to them and received the following response: “The Articuno was not from Niantic. It’s either a spoof or someone hacked the game,” but added that the company is still “looking into it” and there aren’t any “clear answers at the moment.”
This comes after various Pokemon GO users started to claim that they caught an Articuno. These users include a woman named Kaitlyn Covey, who reported that she received an Articuno from Niantic themselves after reporting a problem. Covey even did a live stream with her boyfriend to show off Articuno in-game as well as the apparent e-mail. With Niantic denying any connection, it makes you wonder how they managed to pull off the video.
