Two well-known writers are in negotiations to join the crew of Legendary Pictures for the movie based on the upcoming Detective Pikachu game.
Variety reports Nicole Perlman co-wrote the Guardians of Galaxy script alongside James Gunn, and is currently co-writing the upcoming movie, Captain Marvel. She will be reportedly working with Alex Hirsch, the creator of Gravity Falls which ran for two seasons on the Disney channel.
The last time we heard about the live-action Pokemon movie was when it was confirmed that Legendary Pictures won the rights. This is also the first time fans have learned anything since the original announcement where it was mentioned that the movie would be heading to the big screen. This would be one of the few Pokemon movies to make it to theaters once it releases. The movie is slated to appear sometime next year with long time The Pokemon Company distribution partner, Toho, handling the distribution in Japan and Universal handling it outside of Japan. Nothing else has been confirmed including the movie’s overall plot or who else will be joining the cast and crew.
It will be interesting to see how this movie unfolds considering it is also live action, what do you guys think about it? Let us know in the comments below.
