How to Get Arceus as August’s Free Pokemon

Another one to add to the 'dex!

For the past few months, Pokemon fans have been able to get their hands on some of the rarest and most powerful legendary Pokemon around. August continues the party, bringing the mythical God Pokemon, Arceus, to the table of free gifts.

In order to get your hands on Arceus, you’ll need to make sure you first have a copy of Pokemon Omega Ruby, Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, Pokemon X, or Pokemon Y. Only these 3DS Pokemon games will be eligible to receive the free download.

Next, all you have to do is simply head down to your local GameStop store and ask for a code. For those of you in Canada, you’ll be wanting to head to your local EB Games, and UK players, it’s your local GAME. Don’t worry, you don’t have to buy anything to qualify for the code.

Now all you have to do is power up your 3DS with the Pokemon game in that you want your Arceus to be stored on, and select the Mystery Gift option. Then select Receive Gift, and then Get With Code. Your 3DS should then start connecting to the internet. Enter your code onto the 3DS and you’ll soon find a level 100 Arceus ready to deal out some damage when you load up your game.

It’s important to note here that you’ll only be able to get Arceus until August 24th, and of course, while stocks at your local store last. It’s best to get down sooner rather than later to avoid any disappointment.

The Arceus comes with a pretty powerful move-set of Recover, Hyper Beam, and Perish Song. While it won’t learn any new moves with it already being at level 100, it will be able to learn a bunch of HMs and TMs, so you’ll be free to customize it as you see fit.
