Dragon Quest VII and Dragon Quest VIII Remakes are Both Coming West

In 2013 Japan received a 3DS remake of the PlayStation classic RPG, Dragon Quest VII. Then more recently, in August of this year, they got the same treatment for Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King. All the while, North American fans lamented the lack of a western localization announcement.

Today during the newest Nintendo Direct those same fans were treated to the announcement that not just one, but both titles will be hitting the 3DS in North America next year.

Specific release dates have not been nailed down quite yet, but you can expect Dragon Quest VII in early summer 2016, with Dragon Quest VIII following later in the year. 2016 marks the series’ 30th anniversary, so it’s nice to see that Square Enix wants to celebrate the occasion properly.
