There’s a little under three months until The Coalition gives us Gears of War 4, and for console owners, there’s incentive to get the game. Today, Microsoft announced the special edition console for the game, as a bloody and claw-scarred Xbox One S, no doubt at the hands of the game’s new enemy the Swarm. The console will have a 2 TB hard drive and “Crimson Omen” custom controller to perfectly match with the red console. The controller also has a bloody thumbprint across the D-pad. A separate, COG-themed controller will also be released as well.
Buying the Xbox One S console will get you access to the Ultimate Edition of Gears of War 4, which you can play on October 7 (the game will come out regularly on the 11th, four days later), character and weapon skins, a multiplayer lobby emblem, and six “Gear” packs that have in-game items. You can pre-order the console bundle and controllers beginning on Aug. 1 for $449.99, while you’ll be able to buy the controllers separately for $74.99. Orders will start shipping in mid-September.
