Rumors about Room actress Brie Larson playing Captain Marvel have been swirling around for the past few months. Tonight at their Comic-Con panel, Studio head Kevin Feige confirmed that she’d be playing the lead role in the 2019 film by having her walk on stage, to rapturous applause.
What’s more, they showed off a brand new logo.
Larson will be playing Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot who gets her DNA fused with that of a Kree named Mar-Vell who was sent to study the human race. Her powers include flight, super strength, and energy projection, and she’s grown to prominence over the last few years in the comic world. In addition to her own solo comic, she’s a member of the Ultimates and one of the central figures in the currently running Civil War II event.
Captain Marvel comes to theaters on March 8, 2019.
