(Defeat Oryx in the King’s Fall Raid on Hard Diffiulty)

The King’s Fall Raid proved to be quite the challenge for Guardians on normal, so beating it on hard may seem too daunting a task for some. But, Bungie didn’t go the “let’s just give everyone more health and strength” route this time around. Instead, there are new mechanics introduced to the encounters in this Destiny raid that will force you to play smarter, not just increase your DPS.

There are a few major differences to consider when playing the raid on hard:

  • The recommended is 310 but late-raid enemies have light levels closer to 320. You can still survive if you’re lower (provided you have some skill and a good team), but better to play it safe.
  • The Warpriest gains a lot of Taken abilities and the fight moves much faster. Glyphs must be activated immediately, and adds will have more strength and numbers.
  • Golgoroth has a new debuff called Unstable Light. Whoever ends up with this needs to head to the Pool of Reclaimed Light (the white stuff that gives you bonus damage against the boss) and fight the monstrosity. However, after 10 seconds, they will emit a huge burst of light that can kill anything nearby, including teammates. So keep an eye on the clock.
  • Finally, Oryx himself. The main new feature here is that there are Light Eater Knights that spawn each time you take out an Ogre. These bastards act just like the Vessel, meaning they will target the bombs you’ve created. If they eat them, a huge explosion will wipe your team. This adds a new element to manage in the short time you have before Oryx slams his fist, so be prepared.
  • Oh, and don’t die.

One strategy used by some is to leave the ogres for last. This requires a lot of firepower and perfect timing. After staggering Oryx, you then proceed to wipe out the Ogres and activate their bombs, that way you never have to worry about the knights since all enemies wipe after this phase anyway. But, you should use what works best for your team.

The rest of the final fight plays out pretty much the same, so it’s just a matter of perseverance. Good luck.
