Nintendo opened their Treehouse Live stream today with a brand new trailer for the new Legend of Zelda titled Breath of the Wild, before jumping into a gameplay demo with series producer Eiji Aonuma. The gameplay demo opened with Link waking up in some kind of bath, and a bodiless voice telling him to “open your eyes.” The important thing to note here though, is that whoever was speaking to Link was fully voiced, not the usual small noises characters have made in past Zelda games.
The ethereal voice continued to talk to Link for the next few minutes, even cutting in a couple times as the hero ventured out into the world. This marks the first time the Zelda series has had any kind of full voice acting. At this point though, it’s unclear how much voice acting will be featured in the final game as most of the demo only showed exploration and combat.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is set to release sometime in 2017, on Wii U and Nintendo NX. What do you think about Breath of the Wild adding voice over? Do you hope it features throughout the game, or is only used in a few instances? Leave a comment below and let us know.
