Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’s first trailer excited fans when that easily recognizable mechanical breathing was heard in the video’s closing seconds. Darth Vader was sure to appear in the film of rag-tag rebels trying to steal the blueprints of a Death Star still being built. That iconic breathing was just the tip of the iceberg, though, as it has been confirmed that the original voice actor of Darth Vader, James Earl Jones, will be reprising his role as the Sith Lord.
Jones’ role in Rogue One was confirmed by the president of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Unfortunately, it seems we won’t get to hear his booming voice as much as probably desired. After confirming Jones as the voice actor, Kennedy also stated that Darth Vader won’t have much screen time in the upcoming film.
Even if it’s only in a small dose, fans everywhere will be happy to hear the original voice of the galaxy’s greatest enemy come out of that helmet.
