Volition’s Agents of Mayhem was revealed earlier this week, and a lot of people were convinced that there were ties to the company’s previous open world series, Saints Row. We had some ideas on what tied the two together, and as it turns out, we were right. Well, sort of.
Speaking with IGN, lead writer Jason Blair revealed that the game takes place in an alternate universe where the Third Street Saints never happened. In the Gat Out of Hell expansion, Johnny Gat had the ability to remake the world, and if he chose that option, the Saints didn’t happen. Instead he, Kinzie Kensington, and Matt Miller are cops who question Penelope Brimstone, the woman who leads the Agents. As for why Brimstone adopts the Fleur de Lis seen at the end of the trailer? Blair says that it’s iconic for both the studio and the Saints, and it’s “tied to Brimstone”. Exactly what that means is currently up in the air.
Agents of Mayhem hits the PC, PS4, and Xbox One next year.
