According to a recent press release by Nintendo, the 3DS has sold over 60 million units worldwide.
The 60 million figure includes all of the Nintendo 3DS console brands, such as the 2DS and New 3DS XL. The 3DS family has become the current generation’s highest selling video game console following the 2DS’ price drop to $79.99. According to the NPD Group, the console saw a 38 percent increase in sales in May and a 148 percent increase year-on-year.
“Players can look forward to plenty of exciting new games for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems this year and beyond, such as Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon”, said a spokesperson for Nintendo in a recent press release.
The 3DS port of the Nintendo 64’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D will also join the Nintendo Selects collection at $19.95.
More news from Nintendo, including live gameplay of Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon and The Legend of Zelda Wii U, is expected to be revealed during the company’s set of E3 live streams, Nintendo Treehouse: Live, which will air on the 14th of June at 9AM Pacific Standard Time and 12PM Eastern Standard Time.
