A bit more complicated than getting from point A to point B.

The Finer Points of Drifting

In drifting, controlling your car is far more important than going anywhere particularly fast. Once you start to get a feel for the car, go ahead and turn up the top speed. The faster you take the corners, the more points you will get.

With this in mind, the boost power-ups are just as important in drifting as they are in the time trials, if not more so. Using a boost power up while drifting will rack up the points. This is doubly true for the super powered boost (collecting two power-ups before using the boost). A third to half of the way through the turn, just as you start to be able to see around the corner, use the boost. Collecting and using the boost power-ups at the right time are a huge part of being able to hit the target scores.

Since there is nothing requiring you to actually go around the track, it is possible to find areas of the track wide enough and try to do doughnuts in place. With enough practice you can find the exact right amount of gas to keep your speed high enough to do this. But since you will only be in a single spot, you won’t be able to collect the power-ups, making it substantially harder to get higher scores.

To get the highest point totals, you will want to continue drifting combos from one corner to another. In order for this to work, you will have to find the proverbial ‘sweet spot’ when it comes to your speed. Going full throttle will end with you in a wall, while not enough speed will leave you simply turning, without accumulating points. Pumping the gas and using the brake sparingly can allow you to make it around the track without ever breaking your combo.

When the 90-second timer for each event runs out, it will allow you to continue your current combo until that combo ends. Once you perfect connecting multiple turns together, this can become a way to continue to score points long after your 90 seconds are up.

Having completed the championships, it’s then time to turn to Table Top Racing’s special events. Each of these gives you a specific car you have to use in the drifting event, making them much harder than normal. Regardless of the car however, if you follow the same points as in the championship events, you will be pulling in the stars in no time.

Unfortunately there is no quick and easy trick to drifting in Table Top Racing: World Tour. Once you understand what you need to do though, it comes down to practice and patience.
