EA are set to reveal the latest installment of their enormously popular Battlefield franchise in just a few hours. However, the title of the game may have been accidentally revealed by EA Access.
In a tweet responding to a fan question, EA Access reveals the game is titled Battlefield 5. While this is hardly a surprising revelation, given that the game is being developed by DICE who traditionally handle the core, numbered titles in the series, it does perhaps put to rest speculation that the franchise would be returning to the Bad Company series or maybe something else entirely.
Battlefield 5 will be unveiled in full today at 4 PM ET/9 PM BST. Speculation has been rife that the game will see the shooter franchise take a more historical turn, rather than continue the growing trend of taking the shooter genre into the future.
EA released a brief teaser for today’s reveal, which will be showcased on their Twitch page.
