Today, EA announced that Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will be available to play early on Xbox’s EA Access service as well as its PC counterpart, Origin Access. Members of the services can start playing on June 2nd, while everyone else will have to wait until June 7th.
Access members will also be able to download the game and play six hours for free. This comes off as a bit odd, as traditionally EA Access grants 10 hour trials. Perhaps the six hour trial is meant to not give enough time to finish the game’s story mode. Progress made while playing the trial will carry over if you decide to purchase the whole game.
EA has been gearing up the final release of Mirror’s Edge Catalyst by sharing interactive maps of the game’s open world areas and releasing trailers like “I Am Faith” below. But even more interestingly, the band Chvrches just released their new song recorded for Catalyst.
What do you think of this news? Are you more likely to sign up for EA/Origin Access with early releases and free trials like this?
