Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has been gathering quite the cast since its official announcement back in 2014 and while we know the actors who are to appear in the film, James Gunn, its director, has been very close-lipped about who they’ll be playing. However according to a JoBlow report posted earlier today, we may have some insight into one of the roles and an important one at that. The primary villain for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will supposedly be none other than Paragon, a genetically engineered cosmic superbeing. The report puts Elizabeth Debicki as the one to portray Paragon, which is definitely a strong fit.
Paragon has also gone by the names of Her, Kismet, and most recently Ayesha. In the comics, Paragon was the second creation of a group of megabad scientists know as The Enclave, who wished to use these perfect superhumans to conquer the Earth. Paragon’s second name, Her, was a name she chose in reference to The Enclave’s first experiment, Him, who is later know as Adam Warlock. When she escapes The Enclave, she goes looking for Warlock, whom she considers the perfect mate, in order to produce the perfect race. Sounds like a pretty interesting spin on your standard romcom eh?
Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed, setting Paragon as the main antagonist in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 all but confirms Adam Warlock’s introduction into the MCU. This is huge, because much of the infinity gems comics center around Warlock as the bearer of the Soul Gem and overall protector of the universe. And with Infinity War aiming to release in 2018, the Avengers are going to need all they help they can get against the mighty god-like Thanos.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens on May 5, 2017. Would you be excited to see the Guardians go up against Paragon? Leave a comment and let us know!
