Digital-only games are starting to become the norm in the video games industry. The folks over at PC Gamer have pointed out that both Amazon and GameStop already have Battlefield 1 listed on their sites, but those wanted to buy the PC version of the game will only be able to obtain it as a digital copy.
EA also announced, “Here in North America, there will be a PC box version that you can buy in stores that will have a code in the box and no disc. If you buy that same PC box version Internationally, some countries will offer a disc inside.”
This is unfortunate news for fans who wished to collect special editions of the game, or if they simply do not have the hard drive space or efficient internet connection to complete the download in a timely manner. Of course, downloading the game would be a small issue if fans were given a day or two to preload it, but it looks like the industry is taking steps towards digitizing most titles.
Battlefield 1 is set to be released on November 21 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Thanks, PC Gamer.
