Ubisoft has filed a game software trademark for the mysterious “1666.” As a NeoGAF user has pointed out, this could be Amsterdam 1666, a game that Patrice Désilets had been leading. Searching for the game name and Désilets leads to a variety of interviews from back in 2013 where he is discussing the game. Once Désilets moved from Ubisoft to THQ and Ubisoft later bought THQ Montreal, they received ownership of some of their IPs (including Amsterdam 1666). Désilets attempted to sue Ubisoft for compensation as well as the rights to 1666, but was not successful. The history between Désilets and Ubisoft is incredibly messy and this latest development is just another notch on the “bad break up” post if 1666 is indeed Amsterdam 1666.
