Nioh has been getting a lot of attention since it was re-revealed at the Tokyo Game Show back in 2015. It’s not hard to see why people are so interested in the game, considering it has been described as a mix of Dark Souls, Onimusha, and Ninja Gaiden.
Players can now finally test it out for themselves as the demo has been released on the PlayStation Store across Europe. Weighing in at only 3.876GB, the demo will be available until next Thursday and features two stages to play through.
Those who finish at least one level will get the Mark of the Conquerer, a download that will unlock a bonus in the final game. Nioh is described thusly: “Ready to die? Experience an early version of the newest brutal action game from Team NINJA and Koei Tecmo Games,” reads the demo’s description. “In the age of samurai, a lone traveler lands on the shores of Japan. He must fight his way through the vicious warriors and supernatural Yokai that infest the land in order to find that which he seeks.”
The demo doesn’t appear to be available to North American gamers but it’s most likely on its way.
Nioh is due to be released later this year on the PlayStation 4.
