A League of Legends Character Is Being Accidentally Worshiped in China

Don’t we all ask Garen for help now and then?

In the League of Legends world, Garen is a revered military commander and “the Might of Demacia.” And though he has led many a top laner through troubled times, in China right now, a statue of him outside an internet cafe is getting real-world worshiped.

The images below are spreading across Chinese social media, depicting an elderly woman who recently stopped at the statue to light incense and kneel in prayer.

According to ShanghaiIst (via Kotaku), the woman is likely confusing Garen for the famous general Guan Yu, who played a large part in bringing down the Han dynasty and is now a deity. Either that or she really wants to get out of Silver.
