Playing through Legend Mode on Hyrule Warriors Legends isn’t too difficult, as the enemies you face are going to be pretty on par with your current level. This makes the stages easy enough to complete on your first playthrough, allowing for a greater challenge on a higher difficulty if you want to replay it. In Adventure Mode, however, the difficulty and strength of your enemies ramp up pretty significantly the closer you get to the end of the map. As such, here are some simple tips and trick to help you level up your warriors with minimal headaches or wasted time.
First of all, always use weapons with the EXP+ power-up. Never leave home without it. If you find a more powerful weapon that doesn’t have EXP+, go to the Smithy and add the power-up to your new weapon. If there’s no open power-up slot on the weapon, you can also use the Smithy to make space for it.
The second most useful power-up to have on your weapon is Rupee+. Throughout the base game it’s likely that you’ll be forced to use Link substantially more often than anyone else, and thus his level will probably eclipse that of all others. Provided you’ve got the Rupees, you can use the Training Dojo to pay for levels. The higher the level you want to attain, the more money it will cost you. This is why getting a boost to your Rupee income during levels will be beneficial.
You’ll also want to keep your eyes open for Gold Skulltulas as you play the game. Once you’ve killed enough of them and leveled up your Apothecary high enough, you’ll unlock the EXP Accelerator potion. It costs 10 silver materials and 10,000 Rupees to make, and it substantially increases the amount of experience points gained for the next stage you play. The effects of the potion only last for one stage, so take note that you’ll have to pay the cost each time you want to reap the benefits.
From the beginning of the game you can play Legend Mode on Hard difficulty, and once you’ve beat the campaign you’ll unlock an even harder setting – Hero difficulty. Stronger enemies dole out more EXP, so if you’re feeling confident, replaying stages in Free Mode on Hero Difficulty could really boost your levels. If you replay a single level multiple times you’ll know exactly what to do and where to go, so you’ll be able to complete the stage faster each time, leveling up while you’re at it.
Obviously, the best thing you can do to level up is combine all these tips. Swing by the Training Dojo and kick up your level by 5 or 10, pop into the Apothecary and brew up an EXP Accelerator potion, equip a powerful weapon with EXP+ and Rupee+ power-ups, flick the difficulty to Hero, then go replay Ganon’s Tower a few times. Not only is it a great way to level up, but it should also net you some primo upgrade materials.
