Paragon, is a third-person action game that is looking to redefine what it means to be a MOBA. Developed by the same studio that brought the world Gears of War and Unreal Tournament, Epic Games has set out to crack the elusive MOBA market on consoles that has been quite lucrative on the PC. The game, which was the final reveal during Sony’s PlayStation Experience in 2015, has received some new details via the Ryan Clements on the PlayStation Blog.
Featuring 5-on-5 action, Paragon sets two teams against one another as they attempt to “push into the opposing team’s base in order to destroy its core — which is protected by automated defenses.” A simple concept that looks to set itself apart from the traditional MOBA model by changing from a top-down perspective to a third-person angle and having its only arena focus as much on verticality and sneaky traversal as it does forcing the fight.
The newest alpha gameplay trailer showcases several of the playable heroes that will be available in Paragon. From brute power of character’s like Steel and Grux to the more finesse style of Sparrow and Gideon, there appears to be quite a bit of variety in the ability of the heroes available. Check out the trailer below to see some of the heroes in action.
Paragon is set to launch on PS4 and PC some time in 2016. PlayStation 4 owners will get an opportunity to try a test build of the game soon with a beta expected to launch in the summer. You can visit Paragon’s site to register for a chance to be included in the beta.
