In an extensive interview with Geek Gamer, Shadow Hearts creator Matsuzo Machida revealed that he was currently working on a new game. “I can’t reveal any details about it right now, but I’m working on a new game. In the future, I would love to create a western adaptation for it.”
No details were given, but Machida also mentioned that the game would not be crowdfunded through means like Kickstarter.
Geek Gamer also asked the most important question of all: will we see remasters of the original Shadow Hearts games? Unfortunately, the answer was a resounding ‘not right now.’ ” Currently there’s no such project, but I will continue to work hard with the rest of the staff to make it so that one day it will be possible.”
As if just talking about the series itself wasn’t enough to hit the fans right in the feels, Shadow Hearts artist Miyako Kato showed off a beautiful illustration of Ben Hyuga (protagonist Yuri’s father) and Kiheita Inugami (Kurando’s father), and revealed that they would have been the protagonist of the third Shadow Hearts game, had it been made.
Even if a remaster of the original games isn’t in the works, it’s extremely heartening to hear that the team behind this series of incredible RPGs is still hard at work at creating new content for the fans. So, with that said, any thoughts on what Machida’s new game will be?
