Star Wars: Episode VIII won’t be arriving for another two years, but it looks like they’re already getting down to casting. Today, it was revealed that Benicio del Toro would be joining the cast as a villain.
“Yes, but we don’t start (shooting) until February or March. [They] don’t let me talk too much about it, but it is as a villain. We’ll see.”
Del Toro, who starred in the Lionsgate film Sicario earlier this year, will be joined by the entire cast of the Force Awakens. Star Wars: Episode VIII will be written and directed by Rian Johnson of Brick and Looper fame. It’ll hit theaters on May 26, 2017. In the meantime, Rogue One, the franchise’s anthology film, will hit theaters next year on December 16.
