Released early last month, Super Mario Maker has become a big hit on the Wii U and Nintendo fans everywhere have been creating and sharing their own levels. Some of them are cutesy homages to the Mario games of days gone by, but others are bastard hard levels that require some serious precision and skill.
The popularity of the game has seen strong sales and it was announced today by Nintendo that Super Mario Maker has sold over 1 million units worldwide. Not only that, but players have created over 2.2 million Super Mario levels which have been played almost 75 million times.
Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime said: “For Mario fans around the world, including myself, Super Mario Maker was a dream 30 years in the making. The game has captured and unlocked the imaginations of gaming fans of all ages and brought their dedication to Nintendo to a whole new level.”
Released on September 11 on the Wii U, Super Mario Maker allows players to easily build and play their own Mario levels. A huge range of options are available and we’ve seen some amazing things created so far, including this seriously hard one.
