Leaked Halo 5 “The Unofficial Story” Trailer Questions the Legend

"Your mission is go."

A live-action trailer for Halo 5: Guardians leaked onto YouTube today.  The trailer sets up the premise of Spartan Locke vs the Master Chief even further with an outside party narrating. Here, we hear a man delivering the order to Spartan Locke and Fireteam Osiris to find the Master Chief. You hear an old UNSC officer retell his time with the Master Chief and the Chief’s legacy. The narrator then changes the tone to his disappointment with the Chief’s recent antagonistic turn.

The transcript is below:

“In all my years of command, I never saw a more determined soldier than the Master Chief. You know, his service record was unimpeachable, but he’s not responding to orders. He’s setting these ‘things’ loose. We created him, so we’re responsible for when he kills civilians.

When he recruits others to join him, the only thing worse than losing a hero is watching him turn against us. The official story is Master Chief is dead. You, Spartan Locke, are the unofficial story. Your mission is go.”

Halo 5: Guardians releases October 7th on the Xbox One.
