Aside from all the new trailers and game announcements, Sony’s Tokyo Game Show pre-show also had some new information regarding the PlayStation 4 home console by itself. First and foremost, the system is getting a price drop real soon. In just two weeks, from Oct. 1, the PlayStation 4 will only cost 34,980 yen. Considering all the exciting new titles that were just announced, making the system more affordable is definitely a good call.
In addition, Sony is starting to move away from the ho-hum normal look of their typically black consoles, offering several colorful faceplates for the system. There are no fancy designs or patterns on there – just solid colors like red, yellow, blue, purple, pink, and so on. Just a little something to add some flavor to the mix.
Not to be left out of the color party, the DualShock 4 controller is also receiving a slew of makeovers. The Gold, Silver, Steel Black, and see-through Crystal controllers will soon be available as well. Remember these have all only been announced for Japan so far, but surely if they don’t make their way stateside you can import a couple easily enough.
What do you think of Sony’s new focus on light and color? Let us know in the comments, and we’ll be back with more updates from the Tokyo Game Show all week long.
