In a tweet today, Larian Studios announced that Chris Avellone would be joining the Divinity: Original Sin 2 writing team. Avellone has been a long-time industry professional with a large roster of games below his belt. He has been a key designer in games such as Fallout: New Vegas, Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic II, Pillars of Eternity, Neverwinter Nights 2, and more. His role for Divinity: Original Sin 2 seems to be of the narrative kind, which he has experience with, as well. He’s had a hand in writing games like South Park: The Stick of Truth, Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity, and more. The man knows RPGs.
Earlier this year, Avellone left Obsidian Entertainment, which he founded and was Co-Owner of. He had since been freelancing as a writer and illustrator.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 is on Kickstarter and, as of today, has four days left with over $1,600,000 from backers. It is the direct sequel to the 2014 RPG, Divinity: Original Sin, which also found success as a game funded through Kickstarter.
