Skullgirls 2nd Encore Launches Today with a New DLC Character

Sorry Europe but you’re going to have to wait.

Skullgirls fans with a PS4 will be happy to hear that Skullgirls 2nd Encore is now available to North American gamers for $24.99. PS Plus members will be able to get 20% off the price and a new theme. Skullgirls 2nd Encore also supports cross buy with the PlayStation Vita.

Skullgirls 2nd Encore will come with all of the released DLC characters such as Beowulf, as well as a new survival mode and fully voiced story modes. 2nd Encore also comes with new trials, challenges and a full set of trophies.

Unfortunately for PS3 owners, Lab Zero Games Peter Bartholow revealed on the PlayStation Blog that the new editions to Skullgirls 2nd Encore won’t be coming to the PS3 version. On the plus side, PS3 owners will be getting a patch later today as well as a new DLC character called Robo-Fortune.

Robo-Fortune was the last DLC character to be funded by the Skullgirls Indiegogo campaign and she’ll be free to download for the first three months before being priced at $4.99 afterward. Along with allowing players to use Robo-Fortune, the new PS3 patch will also add a new CPU quickmatch mode, as well as an art gallery and new tutorials. The new patch will also give both characters new and old new taunts as well as new alternative voice packs for Peacock, Parasoul, Painwheel, Big Band, and Double. Finally, this patch includes two new announcer voices and everything that will be added by the PS3 patch will be available in Skullgirls 2nd Encore as well.

Unfortunately European gamers will have to wait till July 22 before they will be able to get Skullgirls 2nd Encore. Also, on the Skullgirls Twitter account, the developers revealed that 2nd Encore will be coming to the PS Vita six weeks after it launches in Europe.
