The Last of Us was one of the best games of 2013 and is without doubt one of the best PlayStation games ever made. The title was a huge hit with gamers and critics alike and has since received over 200 Game of the Year Awards.
A few months after it was released, it was announced that work had begun on developing the game into a film, which is going to be directed by Sam Raimi. Fans of the game had different opinions on such news as video game films have a history of being bad. Some fans were also uncomfortable with the idea of the main characters of The Last of Us, Joel and Ellie, being portrayed by anyone other than Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, who so perfectly motion captured and voiced the characters in the game.
However, it was long rumored that Masie Williams might be in the running for the role of Ellie, and given how well she has portrayed her character Arya Stark in the HBO series Game of Thrones, many fans felt she would be a good fit for the role of Ellie.
Nothing official has been announced but many fans have shown their support for Maisie playing Ellie in The Last of Us film. Yesterday, Maisie posted a picture of herself on Twitter hanging out with non-other than the voice of Ellie, Ashley Johnson, thus adding a lot of credibility to the rumor.
We still can’t say for sure that Maisie is going to be playing Ellie, but this certainly seems like a good sign. Do you think Maisie Williams would make a good Ellie? Do you want a Last of Us film? Would you rather they left the game alone? Let us know in the comments.
