The new writing mode in question is called Tavern Brawl and, according to a blog post, the first Tavern Brawl match will start in mid-June. Tavern Brawl is an all-new gameplay mode where players will compete in matches with unique rules governing how players play. According to Blizzards blog post “One week might feature preset decks, while another week could have you crafting a brand new Tavern Brawl deck following specific guidelines, while others might offer buffs to specific minion types—who knows!”

Tavern Brawl will be free once it launches and players will be able to play with both friends and random online opponents. Blizzard has recommended that players may have to toughen up a bit before they’ll be able to play because Tavern Brawl will be unlocked once players have a level 20 hero.

Once Tavern Brawl launches, it will only run for a short while before shutting down for a few days. Once it returns Tavern Brawl will have a completely new set of rules.

To celebrate the launch, Tavern Brawl players will have the chance to earn free card packs when they win their first game of the week. This offer will also carry over through the next few Brawl events too.

As well as the reveal of Tavern Brawl, Blizzard also announced a few days ago that Hearthstone is also getting a new Hero skin for the Warrior. The new Hero skin for the Warrior is the King of Khaz Modan and Thane of Ironforge, Magni Bronzebeard.

He is the first of the Hero skins, and all Hero skins will come with special entrance animations and custom portrait art. They’ll also have unique hero power animations, a signature card back, as well as a set of personalized emotes. It should be noted “that new Heroes do not add new cards to your collection, change the classes’ Hero Power, and are not considered new classes.” They can also only be unlocked by purchasing them with real world money.
