NetherRealm should take a step up and pat themselves on the back as Mortal Kombat X stands tall as the franchise’s most successful launch on UK shores to date.
The organization in charge of monitoring how game software ranks in the UK, Chart Track, revealed that the Warner Bros. published title sold 61% of it’s units on PlayStation 4, with the Xbox One edition making up another 38% and the lowly PC release tapping into a grand total of 1% of sales. That PC figure is of no surprise really as UK game charts don’t take into account digital sales and the majority of sales on PC tend to come on Steam.
How many actual units were sold has not been revealed but for Mortal Kombat X to take the crown is still impressive. The organization stated that this was not only the most successful ever launch of a Mortal Kombat title, but the second biggest launch of 2015 so far — a title which goes to Battlefield Hardline.
Whether Mortal Kombat X will be able to maintain these high sales figures remains to be seen, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see it standing in the top few spots of the UK chart until other games like Project CARS or The Witcher 3 are released upon the world.
