We’ve all heard of Easter Eggs in games right? Well the contractors who worked on State of Decay decided they would put large quantities of their own into the game, just with a bit of a twist.
It turns out that Undead Lab’s third person open world, survival horror game, State of Decay was filled with “a ridiculous amount of genitalia” in the background of the game. The images would remain unnoticed by players of the Xbox Live Arcade release due to the low-resolution textures. Suppose low resolutions aren’t always a bad thing eh? The game originally released on the Xbox 360 in June 2013, before later releasing on PC in September of the same year.
Microsoft were straight on the case and confirmed the removal of the hidden genitalia when talking to GameInformer, stating “Undead Labs was not aware of the textures in question until they began the process of exporting textures for State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition”
They were quick to also point out that the penises are not visible in the original version of the game… as you probably would if you suddenly found a ton of genitalia hiding away in the background. Microsoft also confirmed that Undead Labs is no longer working with the contractor, and I think it’s safe to say that they won’t be getting used again by Microsoft, or any of its developers any time soon!
State of Decay: Year- One Survival Edition is set to release on the 28th April on Xbox One and PC. Will you be picking it up, or have you already had enough zombie fun with the original version? Do you think this is a funny joke or just plain unprofessional? Let us know in the comments below.
