Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Guide: How to Kill a Gypceros

Time to go hunt us some Gypceros!

Another of its abilities that you need to be careful of is its ability to suddenly fly backwards at speed. This isn’t an attack as such, but the Gypceros will use this to line you up for a powerful attack. The final weapon in its armory is the ability to steal items from you when attacking head on. Should you take damage from the beak directly (be it from a simple swing or a repetitive ground pecking the Gypceros does) you stand to possibly lose items.monster hunter 4 ultimate, gypceros

Where possible, it is a good idea to leap onto the back of a Gypceros. This is the only place you’ll be completely safe from its poisonous ways. Luckily stabbing at the Gypceros’ back is actually easier than most of the creatures you’ll have faced so far in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. The creature flaps around for a few seconds before becoming docile enough again for you to stick a dagger into its spine. That’s it. There’s no irritating change up like the Tetsucabra, just stab, hold, stab, victory.

When you’ve taken the Gypceros down you can expect to mine a few Dash Essences from its body. Why only those? Well because this winged ragamuffin has a tendency to get back up after being “downed” with a serious taste for hunter blood. When the Gypceros is on the floor, do not start to carve it up. Slash at the little sod, shoot it to pieces, heck even throw down a barrel bomb. Anything to damage it enough to cause a full on defeat rather than a simple ruse. If you don’t do it in time, the Gypceros will get back up and start to… well it’ll keep coming at you until you’re dead with attacks flying out of its body at a much faster pace than usual.monster hunter 4 ultimate, gypceros

So in short, to kill a Gypceros in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate you’ll need to follow a few small rules. Bring some Antidotes and healing stuff to keep you alive, be prepared to get the hell out of dodge when it looks at you, run away whenever the horn on its head lights up, and finally don’t simply stop fighting because it appears dead. Follow these simple steps and you’ll be killing Gypceros in no time.
