World domination has been one of humanity’s recurrent desires. In that line, the Total War series has done a pretty great job of recreating terrain domination conflicts and big-scale combat in the gaming world and now it’s growing even bigger with Total War: Arena.
Sega’s upcoming Total War: Arena is a free-to-play turn-based game including key elements from the illustrious series. Two teams of ten players face each other in real-time combat, using three units of warriors led by an iconic commander from history. Besides having commander-specific battle styles, players can also level up their units to unlock specialist skills, weapons, armour and abilities. As always, it’s all about strategy and smart army management.
If you are a fan of the series and really want to know how good Total War: Arena will be, you can already sign-up for the game’s Closed Alpha. Chosen users will also have access to a closed forum in which their feedback will be directly read by the development team.
The transition to online and free-to-play modes hasn’t always been gracious throughout the industry. Nonetheless, the Total War franchise has been around for a while now and it’s developers already know what they are doing.
