Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U is already rocking Japan, and we’re getting ready for this Nintendo brawler to release in the US and Europe on October 3. In the meantime, game director Masahiro Sakurai has confirmed a new Game & Wario stage that will be exclusive to the Wii U version.
Posting this first picture, he captioned, “Here’s a stage exclusive to the Wii U version: Gamer. Don’t let Mom find you while you’re duking it out!!”
He followed with another image of the stage, with Mom’s happiness reaching critical levels. Sakurai noted, “If Mom does spot you, she’ll scold you and blow you away!! …I’ve never seen a fighting action game as chaotic as this one.”
This stage was inspired by the Gamer mini-game of Game & Wario, a Wii U gamepad party game released in 2013. Gamer requires the player control 9-Volt and play mini games while hiding from mother when she comes to check on your supposed slumber. The player loses when Mom catches you before you can put your screen down, or if you try to pretend-sleep for too long. It’s kind of like the childhood version of Five Nights at Freddy’s. And now I’m realizing my childhood was reminiscent of a horror game…
