Watch Dogs on Wii U is already becoming something of an odd port. The version being made for Nintendo’s most recent home console is already on the road to be released almost 6 months after its brethren, not to mention a console which rarely finds a foothold in the gaming zeitgeist right now. Selling Watch Dogs on Wii U was always going to be tricky but a recent slip up by the @watchdogsgame twitter feed could make it even more difficult.
The tweet has since been deleted but it has been documented on several sites including Reddit. The communication, between a Twitter user and the game’s PR feed went like this:
2014-09-24 16:29:10 UTC
@watchdogsgame @Ubisoft Please give Wii U the Seasson Pass for this game
2014-09-24 16:30:36 UTC
@snowyday2 Unfortunately, the DLC will not be available for the WiiU_
Unsurprisingly, the small but loyal community who have been looking forward to the release for such a long time has been vocal in its disappointment. Then again, this isn’t the first time that Watch Dogs‘ publisher Ubisoft has taken DLC away from a Wii U port. After all the same did happen with the Assassin’s Creed 4 DLC Freedom Cry not seeing a release on Nintendo’s console.
In the interest of fairness, the tweet could have been deleted because the message put out was incorrect but with Ubisoft’s record this is rather unlikely.
Watch Dogs is penciled in for release on the Wii U November 18 in North America and November 21 in European territories.
