It’s been 15 years since a group of eight kids in summer camp were transported to a mysterious new world. At a celebratory anniversary event, the series will be turning back the clock again with a direct sequel to the very first Digimon Adventure series starring Tai from the original series as a 17 year old high school student.
The new anime was just one of several announcements however as they also announced a blu-ray release of the original series as well as a blu-ray collection of all the movies in the Digimon canon. In a news of particular interest to our staff, pre-orders have opened up from Bandai for a new series of Digivices, essentially pet raising sims, of the original series Digimons.
I remember there being something similar when I was younger but I was not allowed to have one unfortunately. This time however, as a grown man, I can finally maybe get one without asking my parents like I did 15 years ago.
Interestingly enough this event was also broadcast through the English version of Nico and the trailer for the new series is in English as well. At the very least the sequel anime looks to broadcast in the west but as for the movie collection and digivice, we may have to wait for further announcements.
