Proving that you just can’t keep a zombie down, Deep Silver announced the newest game in the Dead Island franchise, Escape Dead Island. The single-player survival mystery game follows the story of Cliff Calo, who travels to the island of Banoi, which was the setting of the original Dead Island game, to discover the origins of the virus. Swedish developer, Fatshark, have ditched the realistic look of previous games in the series and instead,, have opted for a stylized, cel-shaded look. An integral part of the game seems to be trying to keep what you experience from driving you insane. If you look closely, you can see that a few zombies in the trailer have the telltale Metal Gear Solid “!” above their heads, which may point to stealth being an integral part of the game.
In addition to announcing Escape Dead Island, Deep Silver have also announced a partnership with GameStop. Players who purchase the game there are guaranteed to be entered in the Dead Island 2 beta. GameStop Rewards members will be automatically entered in the retailer’s July Epic Reward promotion where the winner will be flown to Berlin to be digitally scanned and placed in the upcoming Dead Island 2 as a zombie.
Escape Dead Island releases this fall for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC for $39.99.
