Speaking with IGN, Nolan North, the man an voice behind Uncharted‘s famous Nathan Drake, shared some ideas about the series’ future.
North detailed that, as far as he is aware of, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is going to be the last entry of Uncharted from Naughty Dog. As an aside, he also detailed that while he thinks this is the last Uncharted that Naughty Dog will work on, he hopes that no other studio decides to work on it in their stead.
In regards to the series potentially ending, North had this to share:
It’s bittersweet but at a certain point you want to go out on top. If this is the last one indeed, and I believe it’s the last one – nothing’s confirmed, but I believe it’s the last one Naughty Dog wants to do, in which case I hope somebody else doesn’t pick up the mantle because they’ve done it so well for so long – but yeah, it’s one of those things where you just have to cross that bridge when you get to it.
I like the idea of going out on top so we better do a hell of a job with this one… and it’s already looking pretty good.
While it’s a bit sad to think that such an amazing franchise may come to its end, maybe North is right: it is better to go out on top. Die a hero or see yourself live long enough to become the villain, right?
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End does not have a release date just yet, but you can expect it to grace your PS4 sometime in 2015. Until then, check out its showing at Sony’s E3 press conference as well as our breakdown of that same trailer.
