With E3 just around the corner, Microsoft is starting to butter up its audience for big announcements, and there’s no better butter than new Halo details. Today, amidst whispers of anticipation, 343 Industries finally gave us a look into the next Halo title, Halo 5: Guardians.
“Halo 5: Guardians is a bigger effort than Halo 4,” said Bonnie Ross of 343 Industries. “That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen.”
The announcement, a simple introduction to the game, emphasizes multiple times how “massive” and “exciting” the project is. Ross also noted that Halo 5 will run at 60 frames per second, an accomplishment for a game of such wide scope.
Ross stated that 343 Industries is putting their all into this title in order to bring their dedicated fans a game incorporating “the things we learned from Halo 4 about technology, aesthetics, performance and scale – and perhaps more importantly, understanding and embracing a community of gamers who love what lies at the heart of this game”
The 2015 date seems like a long wait, but Ross promises that the Halo “journey begins in 2014”. With more details coming at E3, Ross urges fans to tune into the Microsoft conference, where they will unveil 2014’s “giant leap” into the Halo journey.
