What better way to starve than to starve with friends? Klei Entertainment announced today via a forum post that Don’t Starve would be receiving the multiplayer treatment in a free patch sometime this summer.
The forum post addressed several concerns fans of Don’t Starve may have about the addition of multiplayer and gave a few extra details. For one, the price of Don’t Starve will be going up to $19.99 with the addition of the multiplayer around the time the Alpha becomes available. Klei is also aiming to have 4 players minimum able to play together, though it is unclear what the exact number will be.
The tone throughout the forum post made it clear that Klei did not initially plan to make multiplayer a thing in Don’t Starve, but considering some of the community feedback and the success of the game, they decided it was ready for multiplayer. They are aiming to make it as balanced and accessible as possible, so there aren’t too many specifics on how exactly it is going to work yet but be sure to keep an eye out for any updates.
Don’t Starve is currently available on PlayStation 4, Steam, and Mac for $14.99. You can also pick up the Reign of Giants DLC on Steam for $4.49 (usually $4.99).
