One of the best surprises of last year was not just the actual release of DuckTales: Remastered, a polished remake of the original NES classic, but the amazing soundtrack of remixed and remastered tunes by chiptune mainstay, Jake “virt” Kaufman. The game itself was honestly worth actually buying for the music alone. So much so that fans were begging for a soundtrack release, but unfortunately that choice was in the hands of Disney and not Capcom or developer Wayforward.
Now, a digital release of the game’s whopping 47 tracks has cropped up on Amazon, set to be released on Tuesday, April 29th. The soundtrack includes the full suite of stage music, interstitial tunes, and even the original 8-bit songs as well as the new 8-bit covers.
When the soundtrack releases, it’s a must-buy for fans of the music of the original game and the works of Mr. Kaufman. Maybe this means I can finally get a better mixed version of this music in my iTunes than the game file rips I currently have. What a nice little surprise this is indeed.
