Microsoft Still Supporting Killer Instinct after Amazon Acquires Double Helix

By a show of hands, who here had no clue Amazon had an internal games studio? Me neither. Oh, but they do, as they acquired Double Helix, developer of Killer Instinct for the Xbox One. There were rumors last year that Amazon Games Studio was working on an Android powered console and this acquisition is leading many to fuel said rumors. What will happen to Killer Instinct? Well, Double Helix may be out but that won’t stop Microsoft from working with another developer on the game. Eurogamer got the lowdown from a Microsoft spokesperson on the subject:

“We want all of our loyal fans to know that the Killer Instinct team at Microsoft is not changing and that the franchise will remain with Microsoft Studios. We remain dedicated to delivering a great experience and plan to announce our new development partner soon. We’re excited about the future of this popular franchise.”
