Ar NoSurge and Ciel NoSurge will be joining the Playstation Plus cause in Japan, signifying developer Gust’s support for Sony’s new online service, which has recently come under attack as being too risky and unattractive for publishers.

Ciel NoSurge, a life-simulation game for the PSVita that will probably never see the light of an English localization, was the first title developed after Gust merged with Tecmo Koei. Its main character, Ionasai – Ion for short – is also a main character in Ar NoSurge.
Set as a prequel to the Ar Tonelico series of JRPG’s for the PS2 and PS3 and featured as a merge with and continuation of Ciel NoSurge, Ar NoSurge more closely resembles Ar Tonelico II: Melody of Metafalica in its gameplay and mechanics.

Whether the games’ addition to Playstation Plus will be a further incentive to localize them in the West remains yet to be seen. Fans of Ar Tonelico will simply have to wait with bated breath.
