Shovel Knight is Now in Alpha, Releases March 31st

Hot of the trail of indie darling, Broken Age, yet another hotly anticipated Kickstarted game will be heading towards public release very soon.  I speak, of course, of Shovel Knight, the retro-styled 8-bit platformer that draws inspiration from classics such as Mega Man and DuckTales and features a brave blue knight armed with a trusty shovel.  The game will be released on Steam and the Wii U and 3DS eShops on March 31st of this year.

Developer Yacht Club Games announced this yesterday with the launching of their new company site, where further information about the project can be found.  They kicked off the website with a new trailer as well, showing off some epic music and exciting gameplay developments.

And if you missed out on the Kickstarter, don’t worry, there’s still plenty of time to pre-order the game via the Humble Store, starting at $15 for the regular digital edition of the game.

Now this is one crowdfunded game I can really dig.

I’m sorry guys.
