GTA: San Andreas Now Available on Mobile Devices

With the release of Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City to mobile devices in the past couple of years, it was only inevitable that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas wouldn’t be far behind. Originally released in 2004 on the PS2, this installment of Rockstar’s flagship series is considered by many to be its most ambitious and complete — even compared to more recent titles.

And so it goes, today is the day. GTA: San Andreas is now available on IOS, Android, and Kindle Fire HDX devices. This game tells the story of gang member Carl ‘CJ’ Johnson, backdropped by an early 1990s facsimile of California and Nevada. According to Rockstar, the mobile version has been remastered to look crisper and more colorful, which is a welcome addition as the original release was (let’s face it) pretty ugly. Even better, San Andreas supports “compatible USB and Bluetooth Android controllers including the popular MOGA brand series”, which is a welcome addition to people like me who have sausage fingers. Finally, Rockstar is running a giveaway between now and January 13th. If you enter, you can win a bunch of gear associated with the game.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Mobile is available on the App Store, Google Play, and the Amazon Appstore for Android for $6.99.
