Twinfinite’s Official 2013 Game of the Year

If you notice, we had a lot of differing top 5 lists all this week counting down to this moment. We wanted to have a special, Twinfinite-wide game of the year that we all voted on so we, too, could take part in the award ceremonies that every gaming site is doing around this time. We narrowed down from about 10 games to three: Super Mario 3D World, BioShock Infinite, and The Last of Us. We were pretty much deadlocked, with BioShock Infinite being the early favorite, followed by The Last of Us as the late gainer. Yeah, that’s right. We decided to award all three of these amazing titles with our coveted Game of the Year award. Why, you ask? Well, here is our Top 3 list of why Twinfinite decided to go this route:

3. Each game presents unique and visually striking worlds that stand head and shoulders above anything else from this year, and exemplifies the potential of what video games can accomplish on a narrative and technical level, demonstrating the kind of go-for-broke creativity this industry is capable of.

2. At the end of the day, who the hell cares about who won anyway? We are celebrating the best of video games and we are delighted to honor these three incredible titles because they deserve all the praise and recognition they get.

1. We’re Twinfinite and that’s how we roll.

So there you have it; Twinfinite’s Game of the Year for 2013 is a three-way tie between Super Mario 3D World, BioShock Infinite, and The Last of Us. Congratulations to Nintendo, Naughty Dog, and Irrational Games on the wonderful work you did in 2013, and we here at Twinfinite are greatly looking forward to what each of you have planned next.

See you all in 2014!
